First of all if you din't read it under the Halfway to Gone post, I am sick sick sick of Zippyshare, it is almost impossible to get shit uploaded, you would not believe it.....I am sticking with it because obviously it is better for downloading, but I think daily posting is going to be imposssible, thanks to Zippyshit. If you are still interested, the Halfway to Gone links are FINALLY up and available. My apologies, but I am not about to PAY FOR a service to do this shit, and using Mediafire....well, we already know about that. Anyway, I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing. If i takes me a little while longer, so it will have to be. Someone sent me something about Zippyshare that was supposed to explain something about it to me, unfortunatley it was in some language that I don't read, so back to square one......(I love rock n roll in foreign languages, printed word not quite so much).
Today three discs from a somewhat underappreciated band from Sweden, the Awesome Machine.....formed in the mid-1990's I don't recall them ever really taking off in the US at all, despite three pretty solid albums of grungy stoner-metal. They shifted members around a good bit, but basically the lineup seemed to be for the most part, bassist Anders Wenander, drummer Tobbe Bovik , guitarist Christian Smedström, and vocalist John Harmansen......interesting if unspectacular stuff, pretty good Kyuss-influenced "desert" rock, tight rythems, good guitar work some pretty good vocals.....if you've enjoyed my past stoner-metal stuff, these will fit nicely on your shelf as well.
I think this was a band that improved with each album, somewhat of the opposite of most band's nrmal career progressions. The first effort, "It's Ugly Or Nothing", is still pretty good, some rocking tunes like "Looking For Sweet Opium" and "No Share"......this was 2000, I think, and then came album #2, "Under the Influence" with perhaps better songs and ighter sound, "Still Got No Share Parts 1 & 2", "Mother's Gone", and "Kick" stand out.
Personally I take the third album, "Soul of a Thousand Years" as the best of the three, but they really all are worth a listen. It's a collection of good (using this term again) Kyuss (or maybe Queens of the Stone Age)-influenced songs, "Eatting Me Slowly","Bring Out The Dead", plenty of highlights.....From all I can tell they called it a career after this one, and as I said, I know VERY few Yanks that are familair with them. I have NO IDEA if they were a big deal in Sweden or not, perhaps someone from that fine country can inform me (preferably one of those fine blonde swedish babes, yummmmy, a TALL one while I'm asking!).......enjoy the albums, I'll get the links up AS SOON AS I CAN or as soon as zippySHIT will allow me to. Please understand I am working as fast as I can to get you some different tunes up (hopefully) EVERY day, but things have slowed down with the Zippyshare problems.....I'm trying to find a solution, and I hope you bare with me.
