Can someone please come and help me clean up my disaster of a desk? Gotten way out of hand, I found this CD today, I cannot recall who sent it to me, if it were the band themselves or someone else (I THINK it may have been the band but I cannot find a corresponding email), so be it....I did check their Bandcamp.com site and this exact same disc is available for a free download THERE should you prefer, but I can tell by the handwriting on the CD that someoene else sent me this.....not that it matters, but to me that would mean they are OK with thier stuff being shared and exposed, regardless of who sent it my way.
From Canberra Australia come sludgy doom rockers Law of the Tongue. While this does employ the death-metal style of vocals that I am not crazy about, but I certainly have heard worse, the tracks are more manageable (4-5 minutes) than some of the epic works of, say, Opeth........if I was to compare their sound to anyone I suppose it would be Church of Misery who I did a post about a while back.
Law of the Tongue, to the best of my knowledge, have released but this one self titled disc, from 2012......the lineup seems to be "Ben" on vocals, "Kim" on guitar, "DD" on bass, and "Brad" on drums.......it caught my eye a bit because the opening track is titled "Children of Crake", which I didn't know (still don't to be honest) whether or not it had anything to do with Margaret Atwood's "Oryx and Crake" (Atwood is a favorite writer of mine)......decent enough track, but the second tracak "Rebirth" is the best, and you will immediately get the looking over the rest of the track titles ("Death Knight", "Drone's Lament")....their Faceabook site kind of floudners after 2012 as well, so maybe they were but a one-album footnote to the Australian sludege-metal scene......no classic-of-the-future, but really not too bad of an effort for fans of sludgy/doom rock incorporating some heavey stoner riffage.
