Other Window recorded two wonderful albums of spacey-psych rock in the mid 2000's, thye npretty much sank without a trace I think, but I find them quite trippy and weird, perfect for when one is in the "correct state of mind" if you get my drift. The first self-titled LP is the better of the two, with the very cool lead-off track "Beyond Science Fiction" which goes on for some 16 or so minutes.....MOST of the tracks on the album are 8-9 minutes or more, this is like an updated version of Hawkwind/Pink Floyd maybe......
They followed it up in 2006 with "Transition", actually quite a similar effort to the debut, long, swirling, songs with lots of improvised portions, maybe a bit more rocking than the debut, but SPACEY shit that NEVER roams very far from it's home base......I enjoy both of these albums a good bit, not for everyone, but I think this was a really good band, please give them a listen.....they consisted of bassist/vocalist Alan North, Keyboardist Sarah South, guitarist/vocalist Ian Arkley, and drummer Jed Grifftihs and were the wrong band at the wrong time, I think, but produced two VERY good albums of seriously spaced out psych-rock.....give these a try I recommend them quite highly.
SELF TITLED-0101 Beyond Science Fiction/02 A Different View/03 Time Is an Ocean/04 Persecution/05 Nebula/06 The Illusion of Wisdom
TRANSITION-01 Transition/02 Time Thieves/03 Asteroid/04 Black Hole/05 Final Warning-Conspiracy/.06 Transcendence
Please let me know what you think of these albums.....I like them quite a bit and they are not really well known......sort of 1970's psych-space rock updated for the 2000's, I think it is some very cool stuff.....leave a comment and let me know if you sahre my views?
The way Zippy has been of late, the links may be up as you read this, OR they may not be up until the next day....it's a pain in my ass, and yours as well I am sure, but, so it goes.........
