Today we have some good, hard rocking metal from Finland in the form of Blake, who have released a series of solid rocking albums during the decade of the 2000's. Not exactly the most original band ever, they've certainly listened to a Sabbath album or two in thier time, but so what? At least they aren't wearing the influence of Foreigner or something.Their debut first saw the light of day in 2003, "Fireroot", a collection of solid, Sabbath/AC-DC styled rockers with some Pink Floyd-ish psych touches thrown in, If that sounds good to you, come on in, because theyreally sound pretty damn good, and they improved on subsequent releases.
"Starbringer" came about in 2004, another good collection of (slightly more sophisticated) slammers, lots of lyrics about outer space and the like. "Planetizer" also shows some musical development, MORE lyrics aout outer space, evil, serpents.....originality was never the strong suit of bands such as Blake, but it is more than made up for with exceptional musical chops. Their fourth effort is the also perfectly acceptable "Sa7urnus", the meaning of which escaps me, but it is a rocking effort as well......According to one site they have also released an album entitled "Haze Parade", I've never seen it anywhere, nor have I heard anything off of it, but with titles like "The Viper", "Talk to Lucifer" and "Fresh in the Grave", I think we can all pretty much get the idea without even hearing it....nonetheless, should you happen to have a copy of "Haze Parade" to share, please do so. Sorry, I have no rarities or live stuff from them, love to hear any of that as well.
Not the mos imaginative band in captivity, but when we are a fan of a specific "genre" we give a lot of latitude in that area, I love hard rock/metal as you know and would give a LOT more margin for error than I would in, say, techno or something.......anyways, those experienced "friends of the blog" ALREADY KNOW what these albums sound like from the description and the titles, and know whether or not you want them. I am having WORLDS of trouble with the 2 remaining Black Diamond Heavies links, they simply don't wish to upload for some reason, I'll keep at it until I get them up, and THEN I'll get the Blake links up.....it seems so ridiculous the stuff I go through with Zippyshare, but it "is what it is" (I hate when people say that).....I don't know if I should go ahead and write something up for tomorrow or let Zippyshare have a day yo CATCH UP TO ME......I'll think about it, but maybe you won't see anything until Friday, haven't decided yet. But I promise to continue to bring you the highest quality rock n roll, it may simply be at a slower pace than I would wish thanks to Zippyshare (although they did do a phenominal job on the huge Adam and the Ants and Pretenders posts.....I SIMPLY DO NOT "get it", why I have SO much trouble with some of my posts (size of post seems irrelevant) and SO lttle with some others....it is frustrating and and I have said before I think it reflects poorly on my blog, but there seems little I can do about it. So we'll just continue to roll with the punches, see what happens. I'm really tired, though, of "apologizing" for Zippyshare, when, in actuality, it REALLY ISN'T my fault in any way.
