The best Joe Perry Project post, ever

It's hard to beleive that Aersomith was once actually "good", most of you likely weren't yet born at the time, but they really were a kickass solid blues based hard rock band from about the time of "Dream On" until (being charitable) "Draw the Line"........of course, they have been a pathetic, "American Idol" appearing joke ever since, sobering up was perhaps ONE of their worst career moves, there have been others......such a shame when  a band doesn't "know their place" and stick around for some thrity years too long. Such a long time since they were doing kick-ass shit like "SOS (Too Bad)" and "Last Child", too bad the memory you li'l 'uns are going to have of them are going to be that douche Tyler's appearances on "American Idle" and crap like "Love in the Elevator" and "Rag Doll" (GAG).......

Anyway, while the band was in one of it's periodic snits and not talking too each other (been going on forever) or this member or that member was enjoying his annual rehab stint (ditto), Joe Perry at one time actually put together a VERY kickass hard rocking band, quite imaginatively labled the Joe Perry Project. I saw them in concert once (if I recall correctly they opened for another classic 1970's plodder, Nazareth, and BLEW THEM OFF THE STAGE). They were Joe Perry and a bunch of guys I'd never heard of, but MAN on that night did they crank out a racket......went and investigated an album of theirs the next day, and, for certain, it was better than shit like Aerosmith's "Night in the Ruts" or any of that garbage.....

So what do I got for ya? I have the very good debut "Let the Music Do the Talking", and the two follow ups, made, I guess when Aerosmith were on their various rehab breaks or whatever, I'm also going to include a "Greatest Hits" thing, here ("The Music STILL Does the Talking", which unless you are really a Joe Perry fanatic will most certainly sucffice for you)

Nothing incredible here....just some real good Aerosmith (when they were good)-style hard riff rock, fans of Aersosmith (high school in the 1970's like myself?) should really get a kick out of these albums. Great tracks "East Coast/West Coast", "Let the Music Do the Talking", "No Subsitute for Arrogance"......good hard rock tunes, better than anything Aeroshit would put out post-1979......and that is SOMETHING. These are fairly forgotten albums, enjoy them. A look at Wikipedia reveals that they released an album in 2009 also (!) and I have absolutely ZERO interest in EVER hearing it!

By the way I always thought one of the most underappreciated Aerosmith songs was "Bright Light Fright" from the "Draw the Line" album on which Perry handled the vocals.....good track, really, the highlight (pretty much) of that album, and a pretty good preview of what you'll hear here.

Again, the "Best of" should REALLY be enough for most but the hardest-core Aerosmith/Perry fan, but I do aim to please, so it's all here......Aerosmith was sort of a "singles" band, actually, the filler on their albums could be excruciating, but when they clicked ("SOS (Too Bad)", "Last Child", "No More No More", "Get it Up", etc) they really brought some killer hard rock to the table.....I could probably summarize their entire listenable studio catalogue to a single CD, and The Joe Perry Project operated similarly, some great hard rock tracks, albums?, well, ehhhhhhh......but they could bring the goods when they wanted to. And I'll never forget them cutting Nazerath HARD at that show so many years ago.....fun fact: My wife was also there, ten years or so before I ever met her! Life is SOOOOOO bizarre? No? Well, not really I guess......
