The best Roadsaw post ever

Closed my eyes and picked blindly from one of the "R" shelves, came up a winner with Boston-based stoner metal riff rockers Roadsaw. If you have been with this blog for a LOOOONG time, perhaps you will remember their cover of Led Zeppelin's "When the Levee Breaks" on one of the "Sucking in the Seventies" comps I posted oh so very long ago. If not, here are their studio albums, and all are pretty good, if not really varied too much as is typical in most extreme genres. But if you want simply to rock the hell out, pop these in because they are pretty damn good......yet another of the "second tier" stoner bands of the 90's-00's, which is unfortunate for that "tier" because the FIRST tier isn't exactly awash in fame outside the fanatic niche they have carved out. Such is life......

The debut "Nationwide" showed up in 1997, establishing thier knack for huge killer riffs and heavy rythems....I don't think it was successful (might have been locally), because I don't think I ever heard of them until album #2, "Rawk N Roll"....it was a keeper on first listen, listened to it again this morning and hell yeah, still sounds great. "That's Mr. Motherfucker To You" and "Bad Ass Rising"are titles that show some sense of humor as well. The third album, "$1000000" is quite the shit as well, more of the same, of course, but what ever, don't fix what ain't broke.

The went on hiatus, issuing "Takin Out the Trash", an interesting collection of older singles, demos, live recordings and the like, interesting but not essential. I would have bet big that this was the end of the road for Roadsaw, but not so....they reemerged in 2008 with "See You In Hell", picking up pretty much where they left off, and as recently as 2011 came up with another pretty decent one, a self titled effort.

This has been a pretty good, consistent band for well over ten years.....they aim to produce loud, crushing riffing stoner rock and suceede on all counts. No grand statements, no lyrical magic, but rock n roll. Hell yes. Enjoy.
